Under the direction of the Associate Director of Programs and Services, the therapist is responsible for conducting assessments, creating treatment plans, providing individual/family therapy, facilitating support groups and supporting the multidisciplinary team. They will manage a caseload of assigned participants and support contract therapists as needed. The therapist will carry out the mission of Alexandria House that we provide safe and supportive transitional housing for women and children in the process of moving from homelessness to economic and housing stability. That vision that Alexandria House, not only be a community-oriented transitional house, but also a house of hospitality and neighborhood center which is intentionally multicultural, antiracist, and in which the needs of women and families who are economically disadvantaged are central
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Documents regular therapy sessions using GIRP (Goals, Intervention, Response, and Plan) format.
- Develops treatment plan and therapeutic interventions for participants and families as needed; review and update treatment plans semi-annually.
- Collaborates with the Case Manager and supervisor to develop transition plans for the participants.
- Supports the team by providing skills and therapeutic training for staff to support their work with the participants as appropriate.
- Coordinates and facilitates Parenting Program, Financial Literacy and other curricula as indicated to build life skills for participants that will create self-sufficiency and stability.
- Supports participants by providing verification letters of engagement in therapy as needed for court, jobs, etc.
- Utilizes community resources in accessing supports and services for women and their children that will support their well-being and transition plan.
- Provides psycho-education on mental health issues as needed to participants.
- Participates in regular program meetings such as Check-Ins, Housing Meetings, and All-Staff Meetings. Attends weekly 1-on-1s with the Associate Director of Programs and Services and outside training events and conferences as requested.
- Takes part in interviews for new intakes into the Transitional Housing Program.
- Maintains confidential charts for each participant. Conducts semi-annual and discharge chart reviews and provides follow-up to ensure that all required elements of documentation are included in the chart.
- Maintains their clinical license in good standing with their respective licensing board and completes required CEUs and training appropriate to the practice of clinical supervision.
- Maintains confidentiality of client’s feelings and process while still operating as part of the multi- disciplinary team and providing insight that impacts their progress within their respective program. Maintains confidentiality within the agency with respect to personnel, operations and participants.
- Assists in assessing training needs and supports annual training curriculum with the Leadership Team and staff feedback.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, psychologist, or IMF or ASW working towards licensure with a minimum of three years’ experience working with individuals with mental health needs, conducting family assessments and treatment, and behavior management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CREDENTIALS: May be a registered or licensed psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, LPCC or IMF, or ASW. Community First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification preferred. Trained in ASIST and/or Mental Health First Aid a bonus.
- OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use various computer software (including proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google platforms, and internet). Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills. Strong human relations skills, ability to manage and mediate crisis situations and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.a. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from participants, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, participants, supporters, and the general public.
b. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
c. Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
